Happy Friday of a long weekend! Even though labor day weekend is the unofficial end of summer, I love this time of year. Summer and fall produce start mingling together at the farmers market and it’s socially acceptable to start making pumpkin recipes and all the soup!
I thought I would try something different today and do a roundup of some of my favorite things as of lately. I hope you all have a great weekend!
Cookbook: Have you seen Eden Grinshpan’s new cookbook, Eating Out Loud? I’m obsessed! It’s filled with delicious approachable middle eastern recipes. Think the homemade harissa, shakshuka, pita, flavorful roasted veggies, and a baklava crostata I’m dying to make! Do yourself a favor and buy this beautiful book! Oh and promptly make every recipe in it…
Baking: We’re celebrating my sister-in-law’s birthday this weekend (hi Casey!) and I’m making Molly Yeh’s sprinkle cake! I made it last year and it was so good that Casey requested it again this year! I make Molly’s cake recipe and my own buttercream recipe. Sprinkles + butter + sugar… how can you go wrong?
Wine: Have you noticed all the virtual wine tastings and wine “kits” that have popped on the market since COVID? I think it’s brilliant. Rich and I love learning about wine, but I know I’m not along when I say it can be extremely intimidating. Our local wine store/bar, Coast Wine House has been putting together tasking packs and even delivering them. Now that’s a win win! If I wasn’t almost 7 months pregnant, you better believe I would partaking in one this weekend.
Fall: I love good table linens! So much so that my aunt mailed me some of her old ones before a cross country move a few years ago (thanks Kathleen!). These fall ones from Williams Sonoma are calling my name. They’re fall-ish without being cheesy and would work from the day after labor day to Thanksgiving. I really love the tablecloth and the napkins.
