I’m declaring this the summer of the Hugo spritz. Light and refreshing, it’s the perfect drink anytime of year but especially wonderful in the summer.
I had a Hugo spritz for the first time a few weeks at Novella, a great Italian restaurant in Powell. It was love at first sip. I immediately knew I had to buy some St-Germain and recreate it at home. With all this hype, I hope you like it as much as I do!
Hugo Spritz:
- 1 1/2 ounces St-Germain (elderflower liqueur)
- 3 ounces sparkling wine
- 1 1/2 ounces plain sparkling water or club soda
- Large sprig of mint
- 2 lime rounds, cut about 1/8 inch thick
Fill a wine glass about 1/2 way full with ice. Pour in St-Germain, sparkling wine, and club soda. Stir the cocktail. Garnish with the sprig of mint and lime rounds. Enjoy!
This makes one cocktail.
