Hugo Spritz

May 28, 2021 by Gretchen Blazer Thompson

I’m declaring this the summer of the Hugo spritz. Light and refreshing, it’s the perfect drink anytime of year but especially wonderful in the summer.

I had a Hugo spritz for the first time a few weeks at Novella, a great Italian restaurant in Powell. It was love at first sip. I immediately knew I had to buy some St-Germain and recreate it at home. With all this hype, I hope you like it as much as I do!

Hugo Spritz:

  • 1 1/2 ounces St-Germain (elderflower liqueur)
  • 3 ounces sparkling wine
  • 1 1/2 ounces plain sparkling water or club soda
  • Large sprig of mint
  • 2 lime rounds, cut about 1/8 inch thick

Fill a wine glass about 1/2 way full with ice. Pour in St-Germain, sparkling wine, and club soda. Stir the cocktail. Garnish with the sprig of mint and lime rounds. Enjoy!

This makes one cocktail.
